This year has been incredible. Thanks to our amazingly generous and kind Camas community, we received over $30,000 in donations in our first year of operation! WOW!

Where did that money go?  Here are just a few of the places we were able to make a direct impact:

Housing Support

  • Camas school district has 79 students who are currently without stable housing due to situational hardships such as mold issues, flooding damage, and house fires. Your support has allowed us to provide critical resources to help these students find stability and hope.
  • Prevented eviction for 14 families with one-time rental payments ranging from from $500-800
  • Assisted 3 families with temporary motel stays and transitions into secure, stable housing after facing domestic violence.

Financial Assistance for Basic Needs

  • Covered gas, groceries and rental support for 4 unaccompanied minors($200/month per student). Unaccompanied minors are individuals who are not living with a parent or family member for a variety of circumstances. High school is a very challenging time for most kids much less not having a stable living situation.
  • Helped immigrant families secure business licenses to obtain more work. These families have since helped others in the community with home repairs, and car repairs for vehicles being used as shelter.

Educational and Career Support

  • Supported an unaccompanied minor to secure housing and receive a music scholarship to pursue their passion, providing them with opportunities for a brighter future.
  • Assisted in transitioning an unaccompanied minor to a more stable home, providing financial support for a driver’s license and extra work uniform to help them gain independence.
  • Provided high school seniors with the specific supplies needed for advanced coursework and higher education opportunities, ensuring they stay on track for success.

Stories of Transformation

  • One family living in their car was given the support needed to repair the vehicle and find stable housing.
  • FCRC transitioned 3 families from homelessness into permanent homes, enabling them to rebuild their lives.
  • One newly immigrated family was able to move into their first apartment in the US thanks to assistance with move-in fees and employment resources.

Community Impact

  • Support for 124 families who regularly visit the Family and Community Resource Center for housing insecurity, financial hardships and access to basic resources
  • Provided 40 high school students with Walmart gift cards for Christmas, ensuring that this often overlooked group felt included and cared for during the holiday season.

Your kindness ensures that we can continue providing hope and stability to students and families in need. Every donation you make is a step toward creating a stronger, more supportive community.

These students and their family’s needs were identified by the Camas Family and Community Resource Center (FCRC). Through the tireless work done at the FCRC, families in need have a safe place to go to learn about available support and resources in our community.
