In addition to all the great work that is being done by far larger and more established nonprofit organizations what does this one do, exactly? Head scratcher, right?
Did you know that over 300 Camas Families visited the Camas Family and Community Resource Center over the last school year. Averaging about 60 Families visiting each month and amounting to over 2,000 bags of food, clothing and hygiene products. Oh, and there were 80 school supply kits built to get kiddos set up for the 23/24 school year. Additionally, the FCRC supports the McKinney-Vento program which helps students in our district who are in housing transition. They need help with things like transportation, gas cards, and money for college applications. These kids want to stay in school here and finish.
The need in our community is real and our Camas community stepped up, again and again. We are building this organization to bring a structure to fundraising for all the amazing Camas Families who have asked, “How else can I help?”. We’re excited to soon share several programs and options for how anyone can support within their means. The best part is that donations stay within our Camas community.
We are about to apply for our 501(c)3 nonprofit status soon, which will make it even better to donate. And we’re close to having a way for you to donate on the website soon. Keep checking back and follow us to see how you can be a part of our efforts!
